BREAKING NEWS; This Paris Saint Germain STAR holding out for a move to Manchester United

According to reports in The Sun over the past day, Paris Saint Germain and France midfielder Blaise Matuidi has failed to commit his future to the French club amidst interest of a summer move away.

The experienced midfielder helped PSG on their way to becoming Coupe de France champions on Saturday night but admitted that he doesn’t know whether his future lies in France or elsewhere.

Talking after PSG’s dramatic late victory over Angers, Matuidi said:
“I don’t know yet. I am feeling good in Paris. It’s hard as you don’t know the real position of the club. There is no decision taken so far.

“Honestly, I don’t want to lie, I don’t know yet. I am feeling good in Paris.

“Even if in the future I should leave, Paris stays the club of my heart. It would always be like that.”

The Sun had previously reported last summer that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wanted to bring the 30-year-old to Old Trafford, and that move looks to be edging closer this year.

What could Matuidi bring to Old Trafford?

Often operating in a more defensive role in the midfield for PSG. Matuidi often plays an almost N’Golo Kante-esque role in the middle of the park, plugging the gaps between defence and attack.

His immense work-rate and energy levels leaves him able to act as the perfect box-to-box midfielder, rarely running out of stamina and working tirelessly until the very final whistle is blown in a match.

Although Manchester United’s midfield options are hardly dwindling at present, this ability to relentlessly run throughout the 90 minutes offers something that United’s current crop simply can’t match at present.

The 30-year-old also has an impressive left-foot on him for a so-called defensive midfielder, finding the target 23 times in just over 200 appearances for PSG and an added eight times for France.

Matuidi is also part of a rare crop of world-class footballers that are as intelligent on the field as they are physical, cleverly making movements to create space for teammates in the final third of the field, and his ability to anticipate the pattern of opposition play is crucial to his high rate of ball-winning.

There’s a tenacity to his play – both inside his own half and the opposition half – that would lend himself superbly to the high tempo of the Premier League, and he could prove to be a thorn in many a top side.

During his early days at PSG there were talks of him being able to emulate the style of legendary French midfielder Claude Makelele, and after a successful career it’s easy to see where the comparisons are.

BAD NEWS FOR CHELSEA; Chelsea star Fabregas unhappy with being dropped, doubt cast over future

Dropped

Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has spoken about his disappointment over being dropped for the FA Cup final, and claimed that he feels he deserved a place due to his form in recent months.

Fabregas was on the bench for the game against Arsenal, and came on late into the game when Chelsea needed to turn things around, yet didn’t really have a huge amount of time to do very much.

Not only that, but the midfielder spoke about Conte and how the manager obviously wants the best for the team, but you get the feeling the Spaniard won’t stay for much longer if he doesn’t get more playing time.

Cesc said: “I was in great form and it was a shame I didn’t start the game. I was playing very well and the team was winning, scoring a lot of goals and defending well.

“That is football, you have to accept decisions. It is a bad day and a shame because we wanted to win. The most important thing is the team didn’t win.

“Sometimes it is all about the coach’s decision. I don’t think I could have done much more this season, it is the coach’s decision and you have to respect that.

“I’m sure he wants the best for the team and if he thinks that is the way to go you have to go with it, we are a team. It is between him and me. I have nothing against Antonio, he has done a fantastic job.

“Of course every player wants to play more, it is in the genes of a winner and I am one of them. I’m here for whatever the team needs and I have shown that during the season.”
Moving on?

Of course, while Cesc has claimed he wants to be there for whatever the team needs, putting his own career at risk and sitting on the bench at his age might not be what he wants.

One thing is for sure – should Cesc decide to leave Chelsea, or even put the feelers out he might want to, there will be a host of clubs both in England and abroad that will be keen on landing him.

Manager Jose Mourinho insists that he has "no idea" if Manchester United will sign Antoine Griezmann this summer

Jose Mourinho has insisted that he has “no idea” if Manchester United will sign Antoine Griezmann this summer.

The Red Devils have been relentlessly linked with a possible summer transfer move to bring the France star to Old Trafford as Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

Mourinho is likely to be on the lookout for a host of new signings this summer as he prepares for his second campaign in charge at Old Trafford.

However, the Portuguese coach was giving nothing away when quizzed about a possible move for Griezmann this summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ while enjoying the Monaco Grand Prix, Mourinho said: “I have no idea if Antoine Griezmann will come to United. Ask Ed Woodward.”

Mourinho continued: “I don’t care about football for a month.

“I’m really happy with our season, the trophies, to be back in Champions League but now I have a rest, to disconnect completely and enjoy my family and friends and other sports I like.”

Manchester United will be hoping to use the lure of Champions League football to attract some of world football’s top players to Old Trafford this summer.

The Red Devils booked their place in the group stage of Europe’s elite club competition by beating Ajax in the Europa League final last week.

Manchester United 'closing in' on their first big-money signing of the summer - reports

Manchester United officials are in the final stages of negotiations to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, according to reports in Italy and England.

Sky Sports are among those reporting that the Old Trafford giants have beaten Paris Saint-Germain to the signature of the 28-year-old Croatia winger, with United manager Jose Mourinho believed to have played a central role in talks with Perisic.
Mourinho is keen to add experienced and proven performers to his squad this summer, with the winger who scored ten goals for Inter Milan in the Serie A this season one of his top targets.

A four-year deal is believed to have been offered to Perisic's representatives by United, with the salary increase one of the big attractions for a player who has been linked with a move to England's Premier League time and again in recent years.

Perisic’s contract with Inter still has three years left to run, but his employers are keen to free up funds for a big summer of spending as they look to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

With a new head coach set to be appointed by Inter imminently, the funds generated by the sale of Perisic and the space created on the club’s wage bill have given United and Mourinho their chance to swoop.

Perisic could be the first of a series of big name arrivals at United this summer, with Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann and Burnley defender Michael Keane also believed to be at the top of Mourinho’s wanted list.

Meanwhile, stories in the UK Sunday newspapers suggest Wayne Rooney will not be re-joining his old club Everton this summer, with a move to to China or America's MLS now believed to be the remaining offers on the table as he looks to secure a settlement payment from United to terminate his contract.

Manchester United will be playing Champions League football next season after beating Ajax 2-0 in the final of the Europa League on Wednesday.

Jose Mourinho’s men knew that victory in Stockholm last week would secure them a return to Europe’s elite competition, and goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan either side of half time sealed the Red Devils their second trophy of the campaign.
The Europa League adds to the League Cup title they won back in February, and although their Premier League adventure was disappointing – Mourinho’s men could muster a sixth place finish – the Portuguese boss will likely be satisfied with his debut season in the Old Trafford hotseat.

However, there’s little doubt that United will need to improve in the league next season, and qualifying for the Champions League is surely going to help them attract the top talent needed for them to be challenging for the title next term.

In fact, they may even look to raid some of their nearest rivals this summer, and one side they could look at is Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham, so here are TWO Spurs stars United must try and land in the upcoming transfer window…

AFTER ARSENAL DEFEAT THESE ARE The three players Antonio Conte wants to sign this summer with £200m budget

As if Chelsea fans needed any more good news, the Mirror are reporting that Antonio Conte is ready to sign a new contract after this evening’s FA Cup final against Arsenal.

There are rumours that Inter Milan will attempt to convince Conte to leave Chelsea, but that appears highly unlikely to happen.

And you have to ask yourself why the Italian would decide to leave Chelsea right now, especially for a club that finished seventh in Serie A.
Oh wait, yes it could. Conte’s new deal is set to be worth £9.6 million-per-year, making him the highest-paid manager in Chelsea’s history.

CONTE: 'I'M HAPPY TO STAY HERE'

Conte committed his future to the west London club this week, admitting he wants to stay “for many years”.

“At the moment, my situation is very clear,” he said, via the Independent. “I have two more years’ contract with the club. Then, if the club give me the possibility to stay here and to extend my contract, for sure I am available to do this.

“We have the same idea about the future. The way we have to do things together, to improve the squad and the team. But, I repeat, I'm happy for this season and am happy to stay here. I hope to stay here for many years.”

CONTE MIGHT NEED A NEW STRIKER

It’s tough to spot any weaknesses in Conte’s squad right now. Chelsea’s defence was uncharacteristically fragile at times in the campaign but they still conceded fewer goals than Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Conte will have one spot to fill, however, if Diego Costa leaves.

The striker has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge for months now, with Tianjin Quanjian and Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in the 28-year-old.

Should Costa depart, Conte knows exactly the player he will move for as his replacement.

CONTE HAS A £200M BUDGET - HERE'S WHO HE WANTS

The Telegraph are reporting that Abramovich will give Conte a budget of around £200m, with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk and AS Monaco’s 22-year-old midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on his wishlist.

The report adds that Chelsea will target a full-back, a wide player and a new back-up goalkeeper to Thibaut Courtois, with Asmir Begovic set to sign for Bournemouth.

The strongest are about to get a whole lot stronger.

The Blues just won the Premier League convincingly, are back in the Champions League and Roman Abramovich is ready to give Conte a huge budget for the summer transfer window.

Life couldn’t get much better for the 47-year-old.

Manchester United suffer big setback as they look to complete £90m deal

Image result for Jose Mourinho
According to reports in the Daily Mail, Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann has hinted that he could stay at Atletico Madrid as he has unfinished business at the club.
What’s the word, then?

Well, the France international – who has a release clause of around £90m – is said to be Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho’s priority transfer target this summer as he looks to make his team contenders in the Premier League and Champions League next season.

Even though United could only finish sixth in the league, they qualified for Europe’s elite club competition by winning the Europa League against Ajax on Wednesday and now they need reinforcements for what is going to be another heavily congested fixture list next term.

The Portuguese boss was hoping to sign Griezmann, but now the 26-year-old has suggested that he could stay with the La Liga side.
What did he say?

After winning the club’s Player of the Season award, Griezmann spoke to the official Atletico Madrid website to give his thoughts.

The Frenchman said: “It has been a great year and I hope I can get better and win trophies with this team.

“I will do everything possible. We are very happy. We have reached our objective, we maybe wanted more, but it could not be.”
Does that mean he will stay?

It’s difficult to say.

While he will obviously not state that he will leave the club to the official club website, it all could depend on Manchester United and whether they are willing to pay the huge fee it will take to bring him to England.
And will they be?

If Mourinho wants him, they have to.

United certainly need a new forward with Zlatan Ibrahimovic currently sidelined with a serious knee injury and Wayne Rooney’s future in doubt, and they know they may have to spend big money to sign Griezmann after he scored 26 goals in 53 appearances this season.

As they proved last summer when they brought Paul Pogba back to the club, money isn’t an issue.
What’s the verdict, then?

Well, Griezmann would probably love to stay and win trophies at Atletico Madrid if it was possible but after finishing quite a way behind Real Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga this season, a move to Manchester United – who have just won the Europa League – could be attractive.
