Pastor Adeboye Makes Strong Statement About Late HID Awolowo

The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, yesterday declared that he is confident that the matriarch of the Awolowo family, Chief (Mrs) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, is resting with the Lord.

Adeboye, who spoke while holding a private prayer session with the family inside their Ikenne country home, said: “By the special grace of God and because of my interaction with Mama, I have no doubt at all that she is in heaven now.”

The prayer session which held at the Efunyela Hall and had in attendance family members, relations, friends and other well wishers.

Pastor Adeboye, who shared his experience with the audience on how he was privileged to confirm that Mama was resting in heaven, explained that he had a personal encounter with her two weeks before her death.

He said: “Before Mama passed on, she was making a request and I was contacted. I won’t go into details about the request but I was abroad and when I came back I saw her and we had a little discussion before she passed away. As a result of that I have no doubt that Mama is resting with the Lord.”

Eyaa, sorry oh…A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, William Ryan, has overturned the conviction of a man who spent 16 years in prison for sexual assaults that DNA evidence later proved he didn’t commit.

The man named Luis Vargas broke down in tears as the judge ordered the case dismissed after new DNA evidence linked the crime to a serial attacker on the FBI’s Most Wanted list.

Luis Vargas had been in prison for crimes he didn’t commit since 1999 and was serving a sentence of 55 years to life for three sexual assaults he didn’t commit.

When the verdict was announced & he was declared innocent, he placed his hand to his forehead, covered his eyes and shed some tears as he was finally free of the shame. His mother & daughter were present in court.


However, Vargas is not a free man yet because of his immigration status. He has been taken into federal custody until his green card can be restored.

This has got to be the luckiest man alive. An American man who ran for his life 'through half of Manhattan' when terrorists attacked the World Trade Centre in 2001 has survived another massacre after being shot during the assault on the Bataclan concert hall in Paris.

The 36-year-old man, who has only been identified as Matthew, managed to crawl to safety despite having been shot in the leg by ISIS militants who stormed the Eagles of Death Metal concert and massacred 89 people.

On hearing gunshots, which unlike many others he recognised instantly - 'Perhaps it's my American culture', he said - he ran for the exit.But he was shot in the calf and fell, surrounded by bodies. Slowly, he managed to inch towards safety each time the attackers reloaded their Kalashnikovs.

As he emerged from the hall, and collapsed exhausted onto the street, he was rescued by Le Monde journalist Daniel Psenny, who had been filming the attack from his flat across the street.

President Muhammadu Buhari, business mogul, Aliko Dangote, blogger Linda Ikeji and 17 other Nigerians have been named amongst the 100 most influential Africans of 2015. The list complied by New African Magazine was dominated by Nigeria and South Africa, with 20 and 16 personalities respectively.

Kenya, Uganda and Cameroon also feature strongly with eight, six and six entries each respectively. Of the top 100 personalities, 65 are men and 32 are women, with the other three being groups of people. South Africa’s students, for example, were recognised this year for their role in South Africa’s #FeesMustFall and #Rhodesmustfall campaigns.
The list presents the continent’s definitive power list and profiles the continent’s top game changers in eight different fields: 22 from politics ; four from public office; 21 from arts and culture; 21 from business; 11 from civil society; nine from technology; seven from media, and five from sports.

In one of the continent’s most dramatic and unusual elections of 2015, and Nigeria’s most significant in recent history, Muhammadu Buhari defeated his opponent and incumbent Goodluck Jonathan. Both are recognised in New African. Other Nigerians recognised include the former UN Special Advisor on Post Development Planning, and current minister of Environment, Amina J. Mohammed; AfDB’s new President, Dr Akinwumi Adesina and a surprising addition in the form of Nigerian Diasporan, UK MP, Chuka Umunna, who was in the frame Labour Party leadership.

South Africa also had its fair share of political influencers, among them “the black leader of South Africa’s ‘white’ opposition” party, the DA’s youthful Mmusi Maimane who also makes the list as one to watch during the next elections.

Prominent women making the list are UN Women’s Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and fellow South African Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, the current chairperson of the AU Commission, widely tipped to be a potential successor to her former husband, President Jacob Zuma.

Liberia’s President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is recognised together with her fellow heads of states, Alpha Conde of Guinea and Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, for beating the odds to win the war against Ebola in 2015.

African financial giant and Credit Suisse boss, Tidjane Thiam, from Côte d’Ivoire, makes this year’s most influential list for Business and Economy, where he is joined by new World Bank VP and Treasurer, Arunma Otteh, Kenyan ‘DJ’ businessman Chris Kirubi and the entrepreneur and innovator behind Tesla cars, Elon Musk, among others. Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote also makes the list.

Also on the list are innovators (Cameroon’s Tonje Bakang), philanthropists (Senegal’s Akon), athletes (Ethiopia’s Almaz Ayana), actors (Zimbabwe’s Danai Gurira and Keyna’s Lupita Nyong’o), writers (Zambia’s Namwali Serpell), cultural and media personalities (Trevor Noah and Linda Ikeji), along with the activists, artists, models, musicians that have made the headlines and shaped opinions during the year.

15-Year-Old Liberian Boy Tested Of Ebola Virus Finally Dies

A 15-year-old boy who tested positive for Ebola last week in Liberia has died, becoming the first victim since the country was declared free of the virus in September, according to reports from health officials. The boy died on Monday afternoon at a treatment centre near the capital, Monrovia, where his father and brother, the only two other confirmed Ebola cases in the country, are also being treated.

Liberia has seen more than 10,000 Ebola cases and more than 4,000 deaths. Sierra Leone was officially declared free of Ebola by the World Health Organization (WHO) earlier this month. Source; BBC
