These days, armed robbers are exploiting the high traffic gridlock in major roads in Lagos to rob innocent Lagosians with impunity, sometimes in broad daylight.
A gang of traffic robbers numbering over 10 on Thursday stormed the bridge linking Costain and Eko Bridge and fleeced motorists stuck in traffic of their money and valuables.
Armed with pistols, knives and cutlasses, the gang held the helpless motorists, who were stuck in traffic, for over 15 minutes as they had a field day robbing them.
The robbers had reportedly smashed the windows of motorists who had wound up their windows for fear of the rampaging gang. Other motorists were said to have quietly handed over their valuables to the robbers to avoid having their cars vandalised.
According to eyewitnesses, the robbers finished their operation and left without hassles as nobody could even muster the courage to challenge them, neither did the police arrive until they had left.
