Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn WWE CLASH OF CHAMPIONS

Chris Jericho def. Sami Zayn
INDIANAPOLIS — Say what you will about Chris Jericho, but his “it” factor seems to be paying off lately. At WWE Clash of Champions, “The Best in the World at What He Does” defeated Sami Zayn, no doubt bringing a smile to WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens’ face, as he witnessed his current best friend conquer his former running buddy at Raw’s first exclusive pay-per-view.

After the pair’s verbal sparring match on “The Highlight Reel” culminated in a ruthless, cell phone-assisted attack by Jericho two weeks ago on Raw, prompting Raw General Manager Mick Foley to give the combatant Superstars the opportunity to settle their differences one-on-one. With payback on his mind, The Underdog from the Underground began the showdown by hammering away at Jericho with a furious barrage of strikes, which took the decorated veteran off his game in the bout’s early goings. Nevertheless, Jericho was determined to give Zayn and the WWE Universe inside the Bankers Life Fieldhouse “The Gift of Jericho,” whether they wanted it or not.

Despite absorbing a furious physical barrage from the passionate Zayn, including a spectacular Tope con Hilo, ring-shaking Michinoku Driver, daring DDT on the outside, and a wince-inducing Exploder Suplex, Jericho ultimately reversed the Helluva Kick into the Walls of Jericho, nearly forcing Zayn to tap out. Free of the dreaded submission hold, The Underdog from the Underground briefly seized the momentum with a Blue Thunder Bomb, but Jericho stopped Zayn in his tracks with a well-timed Codebreaker en route to victory. Drink that in
