Nigerian Army Establishes Media Centre In Maiduguri

The Nigerian army on Thursday, October 5, said it has established a media centre in Maiduguri the Borno state capital.

The media coordinator of “Operation Lafiya Dole ” Tukur Gusau said the establishment of the centre is based on the directive of the chief of army staff Tukur Buratai to provide the general public with accurate and real time information on military operations in the north east region.

Gusau, a colonel said the centre will pose as an avenue for better interaction between the media and the Nigerian military.
Also, Mahmood Abubakar, a major general who is the theater commander of the Operation Lafiya Dole called on Journalists to always cross check any kind of information from unknown sources on the operations of the military in the region.

He said the media is an integral party in the fight against insurgency in Nigeria. He also appreciated all media organisations for their participation in advocacy in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari in a discussion with the commander of United States Africa Command General David Rodriguez said he remained fully confident that the Boko Haram insurgency will be eradicated by the end of 2015.
