Chinese club dangles £800,000-a-week on Dele Alli, others

Sturridge, Kane, Barkley Also Targeted

Barely 24 hours after Super Eagles team captain and Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, moved to a Chinese Club, Tianjin TEDA, on a £140,000-a-week deal, the Chinese Super League is ready to offer £800,000-a-week to top English talent in the Premier League with Dele Alli and Harry Kane top of the list.

Mikel’s former teammate at Chelsea, Oscar, 25, had already left Stamford Bridge to sign for Shanghai SIPG, where he is under the management of another ex-Chelsea man, Andre Villas-Boas. Mikel, 29, is on a three year deal.

Former West Ham striker, Carlos Tevez, 32, joined Shanghai Shenhua from Boca Juniors last week in a deal worth £600,000 a week.

In the latest move, the Chinese Super League are prepared to pay a top England footballer a staggering £800,000 a week to join their revolution.

Many of the high-profile players who have already signed up are in the latter stages of their careers, but now the mega-rich league wants an England player in his prime.

As a result, the Chinese are targeting someone younger, with the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Ross Barkley and Daniel Sturridge among those discussed.

Representatives from the CSL have contacted intermediaries with a view to executing their plan.
“Everton’s Ross Barkley is also a leading target despite not being in form recently”

The Chinese believe luring a major English talent will add credibility to the competition.

Wayne Rooney and John Terry, both in their 30s, remain targets for Chinese clubs but securing one of England’s finest emerging stars is now the priority.

Whether a player who fits that profile is prepared to give up Premier League and European football to play in China remains to be seen.
